I seem to have the ability to un-share things that have been shared by other people! This works for both comments that have been shared to a blog and articles that have been cross-posted between Kinja sites.

Everyone can share to blogs that they're an author on, and all authors of a blog can unshare posts from different blogs.

I checked BoxerFanatic's shared post - it seems I've got the power too.

And I thought we were past the "we're all mods" phase after posts kept disappearing (presumably because someone was deleting them to screw with us) when Kinja got overhauled.

That ability seems like it has potential for abuse. Since when has giving power to the masses ever turned out OK?

Everyone's always had that ability, but it's only for shared posts (i.e. a post from another blog)

I gotta be honest, that is open for hardcore abuse.

Its gotta be restricted to certain people or owner of the site in general, so whoever runs Oppo proper should only have that power.

I've been on the receiving end of being unshared for no particular reason.

Agreed one time I tried to share one of Doug Demuro's posts to my blog and accidentally clicked unshare to Oppo. There should at least be a "are you sure" prompt like the dismiss button.
